Hemp a highly efficient renewable material has been used by the researchers at the University of Bath to build first of kinds hemp house to test its properties as a building material. Used to make paper, clothing and car body panels the low carbon hemp has certain environmentally friendly properties which make it a useful eco friendly building material. Called the ‘HemPod’, the one storey highly insulating structure has been built from chopped woody core of the industrial hemp plant mixed with a specially developed lime-based binder.
